Activitie 2023- 2024
Pragya Cultural Centre registered on 16th February, 2001 as a registered Society in Kolkata.
In addition to our centre based Theatrical and other cultural activities in Kolkata, we are working
on an integrated Programme in Tribal areas of Bengal. The village wing of the organization at
Boynala , Kheadaha I block of South 24 Parganas covers tribal villages where tribes, viz., Oraon ,
Munda , Santals, Bhumijas etc. live for centuries. Further activities have been expanded in
Kanmari, North 24 Parganas.
The Organisation is now functioning from its Kolkata unit as well as its village wing at Boynala,
Kheyadaha , South 24 Parganas,WB.
Our cultural activities covering acting, dance, rhythm and other arts continued with full vigour.
In the year 2023-24 we at Pragya Cultural Centre worked completely and successfully following detailed
annual plan for the year.
In the year under review, we have conducted two seminars and four workshops .
We produced one full length drama and 2 one act plays this year.
Involving school children, we produced 3 plays under school projects . In addition, we conducted 2
workshops for the school children.
We are pleased to apprise that we performed in 12 call shows during the year.
Further, as a convention, we have celebrated Independence Day, Republic Day , Adivasi Diwas , Rabindra
Jayanti, Hool Utsav and Birsa Munda Birthday.
Our artists regularly practice and perform on daily basis tribal Drama , songs and dances with rhythms .
We conducted two educational tours for our artists (both seniors and children) towards making
orientation into root culture.
In 2023-24, we at Pragya planned to involve our tribal artists to understand and practice their core
cultural activities covering drama, songs , music and rhythms and to upkeep their ethnic cultural values
for next generations. As planned in addition, we conducted several educational tours, workshops and
training to upkeep the traditional tribal culture and heritage.

All these planned programmes are being implemented by Pragya Cultural Centre involving 30 senior
tribal artists and 75 tribal school children .
On 30th April , 2023 we conducted a seminar on Tribal Culture at Kolkata Centre . In this month we
conducted Kalari pait Workshop.
ON 9th May 2023, we celebrated Rabindra Jayanti at Kanmari in north 24 Parganas. Following that on
14th May 2023 , we had our iconic programme Basay Baromasya at BASA, Boynala, South 24 Parganas
. On 21st May , there was a cultural programme on the occasion of birthdays of Tagore and Kaji Najrul
Islam.
In the month of June and July, the team were focused on skill development and practice. We had regular
classes and rehearsal of Drame Phulo Jhano.
In August 2023 we celebrated Adivasi diwas at our Village wing centre. We also celebrated Independence
Day .
On 5th September, 2023, Teachers Day was celebrated followed by Korom Utsav at Pailen Village on 25rd
September , 2023.
On 21st October at Basay Baromasya , three dramas were performed by our artists . On 15th November
, 2023 , Birsa Munda Birthday was observed at a special program.
On 14th January , at Ganga Sagar Mela ,our team performed at WBCPCR pavilion which touched the
audiences came from varios parts of the country.
In February, we sent our artists team to Jharkhand to attend special workshops on rhythm and tribal
songs.
Our senior and junior team performed at Kolkata International Book Fare . This programme held a the
Pavilion of West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) at KOLKATA
INTERNATIONAL BOOK FARE 2024.
In this year at Bharat Rang Mahotsab ,International Drama Festival of National School of Drama , Ministry
of Culture , Pragya Cultur
al Centre presented Vasudhaiva Kutimbakam online at the special programme
on 21st February, 2024.
