Productions
Banua Pirihi
Our village wing has prepared and presented a new production “ Banua Pirihi “ . The entire project was led by Smt Jayasree Bhattacharyya as mentor. She conducted thorough research , number of workshops and skill development sessions to make the project successful. This drama is directed by Shri Tapan Kumar Sardar. This full length Drama is in Sadri , Mundari ( Tribal dialects) and Bengali language .
UL GULAN
Research work on another production UL GULAN is almost complete and making is on. Jayasree and team have made exhaustive research for making effective script of the production .Simultaneously ,number of workshops have been conducted by her for the artists selected for the project. this drama project is in Sadri and Bengali language.
PHULO JHANO
The group is now working on another project “ Phulo Jhano” - a theatrical presentation on the freedom fight by tribal women . This is going to be our tribute to the Nation in the 75th year of Independence. The research work on this project is going on. This will be all women artists production. Smt Jayasree Bhattacharyya (Guru) is leading the project covering from research to performance.
Ten Dance Theatre performance by Our Village Wing
We have produced total 10 number of Dance Theatre this year and 250 artists have participated in these performance .

Years long training and practice by our artists resulted into all these 10 unique productions.
In addition, we had shows of our earlier I productions , viz., Bidyadhori , Fight Cancer, Corona o Amra etc.
We had one show of our dance theatre production Lal Kamal Neel Kamal during the year.
Bamboo Stick performance( Lathi Khela) by our Female team is also noteworthy.
B. Festival and other activities
ADI SAPTA PALLAV 2021-2022 ( Tribal Festival)
5-6 February, 2022
Boynala Tribal Village, South 24 PGS
this festival, tribal artists and participants from 10 villages of South 24 Parganas joined the Festival. Two days long programme had following seven events:
Adi Krira - Indigenous games ( Archery( Dhanurvidya) and cock fight))
Adi Loko Parvana , Adi Nritya Geet (Main Stage Performance by 7 Village Team)
Adi Vir Vani -( Azadi Ka Amrit Mahatsab )
Adi Pakshaili (Tribal Food cooking competition)
>Adi Chitrali ( Tribal Children Art Competition )
Adi Bhooshaachaara (Fashion Show By Senior Tribal Artists)
Adi Mridanga Ranga ( Rhythms)
At the very beginning , there was Adi Dhanurvidya ( Archery) competition . There were 20 tribal male , 20 tribal female and 40 tribal children participants . In another indigenous game , viz., Cock Fight, 22 tribal female and 20 tribal male participated.
On 5th February, 2022 ( First day) at main stage , teams from 7 villages performed showing their cultural heritage in indigenous dance forms and songs. Rest 3 villages performed on second day .
Adi Chitrali and Adi Pakshoili were two most attractive events.There were 10 installations made by 10 participant villages where they decorated there huts in ethnic way and demonstrated live how tribal foods are prepared . Use of natural things like snail, shell , seeds, bamboo etc in making ornaments were showcased at their respective installations. They decorated their huts drawing Alpana using natural colours like white rice power etc.
Jury comprising Mr. Pramod Gnyandeo Pawar , famous Film and theatre personality ,Mumbai , Mr. Akashaditya Lama , Film Director and theatre personality, Mumbai , Smt Shreelekha Mukherjee , National Award winning actress and Tapati Bhattacharya , Aritist and Social Worker joined and assessed all the installations, food and articrafts .
At the end of Adi Sapta Pallav 2021-2022 , all the tribal artists, participants and villagers too auth to dedicatedly work towards maintaining their rich tribal heritage and values .
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Phulo Jhano Mancho
5-6 February , 2022
On 5-6 February , We also celebrated Aadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav simultaneously at Fulo Jhanu Mancha ( named after tribal freedom fighter Fulo Jhanu ) at Boynala Football Ground, Boynala, South 24 Parganas , WB.
Our artists performed There depicting contribution of Fulo-Jhanu , Birsha Munda in tribal freedom movement . There was a seminar covering on various aspects of indigenous society by the team leaders of 10 villages.
At Phulo Jhano Mancha , there were presentations on Virsha Munda, Chuar Revolution, Shidho Kahnho etc.
Special Show at Kolkata Book Fare on 1st March, 2022
The Team performed at Kolkata Book Fare in gracious presence of Dr, Shashi Panja, Hon'ble Minister, West Bengal and Smt Ananya Chakraborti , Chairperson, West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
The production was directed by Smt Jayasree Bhattacharyya, Director, Pragya Cultural Centre.

Special Show at SARAS MELA , WB Government on 2nd January, 2022
Makingof BASA - Open theatre of Pragya Cultural Centre
The Rural wing of the Pragya Cultural Centre is ready with its new all side open Stage theatre “ BASA” at Boynala Football Ground , Kheadaha I , South 24 Parganas, WB . We will be having at least one performance at this stage every month and thus it is coined as “ BASA” e BaroMasya ‘.
In pursuit of theatrical and cultural activities, Village Wing of the Pragya Cultural Centre have initiated a year long programme , Viz., “BASAY-BAROMASYA“ wherein in every month ,on 3rd Sunday there will be theatrical performance by the Artists/ Actors/Actresses from Pragya and also another group of prominence from different places of the Country .
To begin with , we have constructed " BASA " in this year 2021-22 - the all side open stage built up in the conventional way replicating thatched hut.
" BASA " was inaugurated on 8th May, 2022 at 3 pm at Boynala Tribal Village , Kheadaha 1, South 24 Parganas in presence of eminent theatre and cultural personalities and our 300 tribal artists from 10 tribal villages
Birthday celebration of Birsa Munda on 15th November ,2021;
Eight Rallies from eight Tribal villages of 24 PGS South culminated at Boynala Tribal village football ground to celebrate Birth Aniversary of Bir Birsa Munda. This was also an orientation programme for the artists who will be performing in our ensuing Production on brave tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda.

"Bidyadhari,ek Chai Chapaal Agoon" - a Drama by Pragya Village wing
This Play "Bidyadhari,ek Chai Chapaal Agoon" is in both the Sadri and Mundari language. This is directed by Jayasree Bhattacharyya . This play was staged with the help of live music and simple stage .
World Cleanup Day celebrated on 18th September, 2021
In th gracious presence of Smt Kakoli Ghosh Kundu, IC, Baruipur Mahila PS, Shri Saurav Dhalla , BDO, Sonarpur, we celebrated this awareness day.
The entire team of CTVM (Clean Tribal Village Movement) of Pragya were present there.
Teachers Day On 5th September , 2021
Guru - Sishyas parampara was respected in a special programme at Pailen Village , wherein our trainees, students mainly celebrated the day pay reverence to our teachers team.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
On 15th August , 2021 we celebrated Independence Day at Pailen Football Ground, Pailen, South 24 Parganas. Chairperson, West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights ( WBCPCR) graced the programme in presence of other dignitaries.
Our women wing demonstrated traditional Lathi Khela (লাঠি খেলা) - a form of indigenous marshal art or “stick arts”.
Hul Diwas celebrated on 30th June, 2021
Our Artists paid their homage to Sidhu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu , martyrs of Santhal movement on Hul Divas held 30th June , 2020 at a cultural Function at BDO office of Sonarpur maintaining strict social distance. BDO Shri Saikat Majhi and other dignitaries were present there.
Through a sync performance of songs , dance, recitation, painting(Sukamal Mahato , Jayanti Munda and other tribal girls ) and Yogic - contemporary form (Suman Saha, Sanchari ) , these artists by paid tribute to those brave warriors of Santhal Hul.
Children Training on school project at schools
During the year we continued our endeavour to train children. Pragya Cultural Centre is now running its school project at BOYNALA ADIVASI FP SCHOOL wherein we keep the students engaged in various theatrical and other cultural activities through out the year. Continuous workshops and regular training of the students culminated students culminated into a Drama production. On 6th February, 2022 they performed in presence of distinguished guests and were appreciated by the guests present there.
Special Developmental Work in Tribal Villages
In addition to theatrical activities , our village wing is deeply involved in many social activities to support the people. We worked day after day to make all the tribal villagers covid tested as well as vaccinated . We ensured that our artists and their families are protected and there was no casualty.
